Description

  • Design and deliver scalable software solutions for batch and event-driven processing of card network settlement and transaction data.
  • Own and deliver projects aligned with quarterly team goals.
  • Independently identify solutions to ambiguous, open-ended technical problems.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain card network transactions at scale.
  • Create digital wallet tokens through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Build backend experiences for internal and external customers.
  • Manage chargebacks and disputes with card networks.
  • Facilitate money transfer via ACH and ATM networks.
  • Apply APRs and fees to credit customers.
  • Architect, design, and develop large, complex projects.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to prioritize and ship features.
  • Partner with Product Managers to scope and estimate new work.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Provide guidance on DevOps and infrastructure engineering when needed, including scaling, resilience, and global availability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software or data engineering, ideally in payments or financial services processing.
  • Experience developing in Java and/or Python, with openness to other programming languages.
  • Experience with batch data processing using query engines such as Athena or Trino/Presto.
  • Experience designing, building, and scaling batch and event processing solutions.
  • Experience making technical tradeoffs and navigating technical complexity.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify root causes of production issues and recommend or implement improvements.
  • Ability to work productively on cross-functional teams with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strong passion for writing high-quality code with good test coverage.
  • Nice-to-have experience in payments or FinTech.
  • Nice-to-have experience with microservices.
  • Nice-to-have experience with Java Spring Boot.
  • Nice-to-have experience with Airflow.
  • Nice-to-have production experience with cloud tools, especially AWS.
  • Nice-to-have experience with CI/CD systems and deployment/orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and/or Docker.
  • Nice-to-have contributions to technical blogs, public GitHub repositories, or open source projects.
