Description

  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers through regular 1:1s, performance goals, hiring, onboarding, and career development.
  • Own the technical roadmap for the cloud data stack, including Snowflake, Azure, and dbt.
  • Serve as the internal authority on Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, cost governance, and security.
  • Design and maintain a scalable, well-documented warehouse structure and object hierarchy standards.
  • Own the dbt project end-to-end, including modeling conventions, testing strategy, documentation standards, and CI/CD integration.
  • Establish and enforce a layered dbt modeling approach from staging to intermediate to marts.
  • Lead the design and operation of data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and ensure reliable data movement into Snowflake.
  • Define and enforce ETL/ELT best practices, naming conventions, and code review standards across the organization.
  • Champion data quality, observability, and lineage across the platform.
  • Translate business requirements from stakeholders into prioritized engineering work and drive process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a team lead or management role.
  • Deep, production-grade Snowflake expertise, including warehouse architecture, query performance optimization, cost management, and enterprise security controls.
  • Fluency with dbt and experience building and maintaining dbt projects at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python for data pipeline development and automation.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow a small team while remaining technically engaged.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data observability tooling such as Elementary, Monte Carlo, or similar, preferred.
  • Exposure to Snowflake Cortex, Snowpark ML, or other AI/ML capabilities on Snowflake, preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth or scale-up environment where standards were built from the ground up, preferred.

Benefits

  • Compensation of USD $140,000 to $170,000 per year.
  • Opportunity to work in a remote full-time role.
