Description

  • Coordinate network outages with Voice, Video, IP, Transport, OSP, and Local Operations teams to ensure rapid resolution.
  • Perform event notifications for internal teams, leadership, and external customers.
  • Create and escalate third-party tickets for offnet outages.
  • Support outage isolation, troubleshooting, and identification of chronic network issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve escalated network performance problems and monitor impacted systems.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for root cause analysis and action plan development.
  • Work customer and network trouble tickets to restore service and resolve faults.
  • Assist other NOC team members during critical outages across Voice, Transport, IP, and Broadband networks.
  • Support Change Management activities as needed.
  • Complete additional duties and project assignments from NOC leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4+ years of professional network operations experience or 5+ years of related engineering or technical experience.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking and working knowledge of IEEE and ITU standards for FTTH and GPON technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Access and Core engineering environments, including MPLS, layer two and layer three private networks, GPON, XGS-PON, and multi-protocol routing technologies.
  • Familiarity with the OSI model and routing/transmission protocols including VRF, VPN, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, VPLS, and VPRN.
  • Knowledge of digital cross-connect systems, multiplexing systems, and TL1 or CLI-based provisioning.
  • Working knowledge of TDM, SONET, CWDM, DWDM, OTN, ROADM, and protection/switching methodologies.
  • Experience with Cisco, Ciena, and Nokia routing platforms, including software or hardware upgrades.
  • Ability to work a 24/7 operational schedule, including nights and weekends, with a 3rd shift schedule of 11 pm to 7 am.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
