Description

  • Collaborate with suppliers to provide DFM feedback, review injection molding output, and approve tooling through molding trials.
  • Partner with design engineering to down-select early concepts using supplier input on materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Solicit, compile, and present DFx feedback to the design engineering team to support concept selection.
  • Serve as the supplier voice to internal engineering teams during development build phases.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for RFx efforts and develop technical data packages for supplier bids.
  • Help develop custom manufacturing and assembly processes for outsourcing to external manufacturing partners.
  • Drive and track supplier actions related to ECRs and PCN activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, incoming quality, material planning, and plant SQEs to contain supplier quality issues.
  • Investigate supplier quality issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive long-term preventive actions.
  • Perform supplier assessments, audits, and site inspections, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Support system assembly builds, define incoming parts inspection procedures, and drive containment and long-term actions for build issues.
  • Travel to Lucid and supplier sites globally on short notice as needed.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering; MS preferred or equivalent experience in mechanical, industrial, plastic engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), preferably in automotive plastic and composite development.
  • Deep knowledge of thermoplastic molding and secondary processes, including injection molding, extrusion, and compression molding.
  • Experience bringing multiple new products from concept through production.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management tools such as Auros or Arena PLM.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings, with strong knowledge of quality standards and specifications.
  • Strong analytical abilities, technical writing skills, and familiarity with quality tools such as IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, DFM/A, and GD&T.
  • Preferred certification such as American Society for Quality or Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Experience with relevant industry standards and regulations, including RoHS, REACH, UN 38.3, UL 2580, ISO 6469, and ISO 26262.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a hands-on and data-driven approach, and a creative problem-solving mindset.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of Smartsheet, JMP, Minitab, JIRA, and Tableau is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 25-75% on a short-term or long-term basis to Lucid and supplier sites globally.
