Description

  • Own and architect high-availability MySQL database platforms that support critical business systems.
  • Design multi-region replication, disaster recovery, and zero-downtime migration solutions.
  • Lead incident response for major database outages and drive post-incident reviews.
  • Define, track, and improve database SLIs/SLOs, reliability metrics, and operational standards.
  • Drive capacity planning, growth forecasting, and scaling strategies for production databases.
  • Lead automation initiatives and build self-service workflows for database provisioning and operations.
  • Design and implement database infrastructure as code and GitOps-based deployment workflows.
  • Lead Cloud SQL on GCP operations, including HA setups, cross-region deployments, and cloud migrations.
  • Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, schema reviews, and backup/restore strategy improvements.
  • Mentor junior database engineers and collaborate with application, SRE, and platform teams on technical decisions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on MySQL DBA or engineering experience in production environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MySQL architecture, replication, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • 4+ years of experience managing Cloud SQL on GCP, including HA, read replicas, and backup strategies.
  • 4+ years of infrastructure as code experience, with Terraform strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for database changes and schema migrations.
  • Strong scripting or programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation and tooling.
  • Deep Linux system administration knowledge and OS-level performance tuning experience.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
  • Demonstrated incident response leadership, including on-call rotations and post-mortem facilitation.
  • Experience supporting large-scale production systems with 99.9%+ uptime requirements.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, or distributed databases is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud migration projects, database security, or data engineering tools is preferred.
  • GCP Professional Database Engineer, MySQL Certification, or equivalent certification is preferred.
