Description

  • Supervise, coach, and develop building engineers and maintenance technicians across multiple assets.
  • Manage scheduling, coverage, on-call rotations, and performance oversight for the engineering team.
  • Conduct field audits, inspections, and documentation reviews to verify maintenance quality and preventive maintenance completion.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, skills assessments, and training plans for engineering staff.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical oversight for HVAC, mechanical, electrical, BAS/BMS, water treatment, and life safety systems.
  • Oversee lab and specialized building systems, including critical environmental controls and laboratory waste systems.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly engineering rounds, readings, and inspection records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE, local codes, environmental regulations, and life-safety requirements.
  • Lead or support root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, commissioning efforts, and shutdown/tie-in planning.
  • Assist with budget development, invoice validation, vendor management, RFP support, and capital planning.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in commercial property or building engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience supervising multi-site or large-site teams.
  • Experience supporting life science, medical office, biotech, or laboratory environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC central plants, BAS/BMS, electrical distribution, life safety, water treatment, and CMMS workflows.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE standards, local codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with CMMS, BAS front-ends, MS 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint), and energy analytics tools.
  • Ability to interpret trend logs and create basic dashboards.
  • Preferred certifications include CFC/EPA 608 Universal, manufacturer training for chiller/boiler/BAS systems, lab safety or related technical training, and a wastewater license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, access mechanical rooms and rooftops, and work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites, with occasional off-hours, on-call, emergency, and weather-event coverage.
