Description

  • Develop and execute high-impact thought leadership on education, workforce, and the future of work.
  • Lead rigorous research and data analysis that supports Lightcast’s strategic goals.
  • Translate labor market data into research publications, messaging, and communications campaigns.
  • Represent Lightcast as an external expert through media, blogs, podcasts, social media, and public speaking.
  • Attend conferences, advisory groups, committees, and other influential forums on behalf of Lightcast.
  • Own Lightcast’s education, workforce, and future-of-work research agenda.
  • Define a multi-year research roadmap focused on labor market change, skills, talent pipelines, and AI’s impact on learning and work.
  • Collaborate with product, data, and go-to-market teams to align research with strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Build relationships with universities, government agencies, think tanks, foundations, workforce organizations, and industry associations.
  • Support business development through presentations, executive briefings, proposals, and client-facing research.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in economics, labor economics, public policy, workforce development, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Significant experience leading research on labor markets, workforce development, economic mobility, skills, education, or the future of work.
  • Demonstrated track record of publishing influential research and turning complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience presenting at conferences, engaging with media, and serving as a recognized subject matter expert.
  • Strong relationships across government, education, workforce, research, policy, or economic development ecosystems.
  • Experience advising policymakers, institutional leaders, executives, or partner organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and collaborative research initiatives across sectors.
  • Experience supporting business development, executive engagement, or commercially relevant research preferred.
  • Background in a research institution, university, think tank, government agency, workforce organization, or labor market data organization strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately once per month, with additional travel for major launches and speaking engagements.
