Description

  • Lead end-to-end product design for Life360’s connected devices portfolio, including Tile, Pet GPS, and future hardware products.
  • Translate insights and strategy into scalable experiences across physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Own the in-app experience for device setup, management, and ongoing value delivery.
  • Deeply understand hardware constraints, companion app interactions, and user mental models to create seamless experiences across app, web, and device.
  • Rapidly prototype hardware-software interaction concepts to explore and validate new experiences.
  • Map and storyboard end-to-end user journeys from unboxing through daily use and present visual artifacts for stakeholder feedback.
  • Design frameworks and interaction models that reduce friction in setup, management, and troubleshooting flows.
  • Develop scalable design patterns that unify the devices experience across form factors and surfaces.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Brand, Research, Hardware, and Industrial Design to influence strategy and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide other designers while helping shape design culture and innovation across the team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience designing mobile-first, consumer-facing products, ideally in hardware companion apps, IoT, or connected device ecosystems.
  • Experience designing across physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Strong understanding of how hardware constraints influence software UX decisions.
  • Familiarity with device lifecycle moments such as unboxing, onboarding, setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing engagement.
  • Strong UI/UX craft with a portfolio showing elegant, data-informed solutions to complex cross-platform or hardware-software problems.
  • Experience designing AI-enhanced experiences, especially for ambient, location-aware, or sensor-driven products.
  • Skilled in rapid prototyping with a bias toward exploration and iteration.
  • Experience with design partner programs, early access customers, hardware betas, or device pilot programs is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to translate technical realities into user-centered narratives.
  • A systems-thinking mindset with experience creating scalable frameworks across form factors, platforms, and product lines.
