Description

  • Own and operate CI/CD pipelines and blue/green/canary deployment frameworks across Production, Staging, and Sandbox EKS clusters.
  • Build and enforce policy-as-code guardrails with automated compliance checks against NIST 800-53, TRM, and VA-specific controls before production deployment.
  • Manage Terraform infrastructure-as-code for VAEC infrastructure provisioning and ensure all changes are code-reviewed and version-controlled.
  • Lead SRE functions by defining SLIs, tracking SLOs against PWS SLA tiers, managing error budgets, and owning reliability reviews.
  • Operate the Istio service mesh, including traffic management, mTLS enforcement, and sidecar lifecycle across EKS namespaces.
  • Lead SAST, DAST, container scanning, and Fortify remediation to maintain ATO support and eliminate unmitigated critical CVEs.
  • Maintain the onboarding pipeline with an IaC-driven runbook that brings new engineers to readiness within contractual timeframes.
  • Support optional surge efforts for DevSecOps and SRE work as defined in the Performance Work Statement.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of DevSecOps or SRE experience in federal cloud environments.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes/EKS at scale and multi-namespace production operations.
  • Expert-level Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience in AWS GovCloud.
  • Experience engineering blue/green and canary deployments in production federal environments.
  • Experience with Istio service mesh, mTLS, and service-to-service security in Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, VA RMF, and ATO-supporting tooling such as SAST, DAST, Fortify, and Nessus.
  • Active Department of Veterans Affairs PIV credentials.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have physically resided in the United States for at least 3 years.
  • Ability to undergo a security investigation and meet requirements for access to protected and/or classified information.
  • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification preferred.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) preferred.
  • HashiCorp Vault Associate certification preferred.
  • VA TASPL / VIP Guide 4.0 experience preferred.
  • MSK/Kafka or VistA integration experience preferred.
