Description

  • Design, install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Perform cable routing, labeling, and documentation in accordance with Army and DoD standards.
  • Conduct testing and certification of cabling infrastructure using OTDRs, power meters, and cable analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues across LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, and blueprints to support installation and upgrades.
  • Support network infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and relocations across Army facilities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including as-built drawings, test results, and cable records.
  • Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and DoD Unified Facilities Criteria.
  • Coordinate with network engineers, system administrators, and project managers to support mission requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on cabling systems.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance or higher is required.
  • Hands-on experience designing, installing, testing, and maintaining copper and fiber optic cabling systems in secure, mission-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of DoD standards and structured cabling systems.
  • Ability to work in both field and facility settings.
  • Experience with CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT6A copper cabling.
  • Experience with single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
  • Ability to use cabling test tools such as OTDR, power meters, and cable analyzers.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally 50-75% of the time.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army or other government network infrastructure programs (implied preferred).

Benefits

  • $55,000 - $62,000 a year.
  • Remote work arrangement.
  • National travel schedule with approximately two weeks traveling and two weeks off work.
