Description

  • Own and evolve foundational platform services across architecture, reliability, and roadmap.
  • Lead backend architecture decisions, including service boundaries, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Design, document, and maintain clean versioned REST APIs for internal teams and AI agents.
  • Own non-functional requirements such as performance, observability, security, and availability.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for services from development and deployment through monitoring and on-call support.
  • Mentor and upskill mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and architectural guidance.
  • Champion engineering best practices in testing, code quality, incident response, and continuous delivery.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines and drive deployment reliability, operational excellence, and service resilience.
  • Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to shape the platform roadmap and technical solutions.
  • Author architecture decision records and make trade-off decisions for long-lived platform services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
  • Deep expertise in C#, .NET Core / .NET 8+, ASP.NET Web API, and microservices architecture.
  • Proven experience owning and evolving production services, including schema migrations, API versioning, backward compatibility, and long-lived maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts, including event-driven architecture, message queues, sagas, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
  • Strong experience with AI developer tools, including using and building custom agents, skills, and instructions.
  • Deep proficiency with relational databases such as MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL, including query design, schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure.
  • Experience designing robust, versioned REST APIs with security considerations such as OAuth 2.0, API key management, and rate limiting.
  • Some frontend exposure with Vue.js and/or TypeScript is a plus.
  • Experience with workflow automation frameworks such as Temporal or Inngest is a plus.
  • Deep observability experience, including structured logging, OpenTelemetry tracing, alerting strategies, and SLO/SLA ownership, is a plus.
  • Experience with service mesh, API gateway patterns, or platform engineering practices at scale is a plus.
  • Demonstrated mentoring experience with junior engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and quality improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with English fluency required.
  • An agile, collaborative, and constructively opinionated approach is required.
