Description

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Generate accurate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain the general ledger by recording, reconciling, analyzing transactions, and signing off on ledger entries.
  • Review the work of other accounting staff supporting the same client.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for financial matters.
  • Provide due diligence support for audits, fundraising, and M&A activities.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key financial metrics, trends, and variances.
  • Provide timely financial information, analysis, and recommendations to support client decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Create and implement client-specific procedures to improve the accuracy of monthly financials.
  • Support the tax team with state and local compliance, sales and use tax reporting, and year-end books preparation.
  • Coach and mentor junior accounting staff and provide feedback on work quality.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and assess internal controls and risk areas.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as maintenance project tracking, client invoicing for special projects, and billable hour monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • 8+ years of corporate accounting experience.
  • Experience in a multi-client environment.
  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, and applicable laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Solid experience with QuickBooks Online; certification is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work core business hours in the local time zone, approximately 8am to 5pm local time.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of nuanced tasks.
  • Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in rapidly changing technology and software solutions that improve efficiency.
  • CPA license, progress toward CPA, or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • Experience in a fully remote, people-centric culture is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup or entrepreneurial environment is preferred.
  • Experience in SaaS accounting, startup equity accounting, and/or startup revenue accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with tools such as Expensify, Bill.com, Stripe, Gusto, Slack, Salesforce, 1Password, Airtable, Box, and Kantata is preferred.
