Description

  • Lead technical research on new and complex U.S. GAAP accounting standards and document the company’s position.
  • Analyze accounting and regulatory reporting requirements for domestic and international subsidiaries.
  • Draft and finalize technical accounting memos to support complex transaction analysis and policy conclusions.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for complex non-routine transactions, including M&A and debt/equity offerings.
  • Advise business and functional teams on the accounting impacts of new corporate policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Design and implement scalable accounting and reporting processes related to policy application.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of accounting policies, ensuring documentation remains clear, current, and consistently applied.
  • Prepare and file external SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements.
  • Prepare financial statements, footnotes, and other regulatory/compliance reports in accordance with disclosure requirements.
  • Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are effectively designed and operating for the external reporting process.
  • Support internal and external audits on technical accounting matters and financial statement reviews.
  • Prepare materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors on accounting policy matters, reporting updates, and emerging risks.
  • Lead accounting policy and reporting projects and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
  • Drive process improvements and cross-functional collaboration to streamline data collection and reporting.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 audit and direct SEC reporting and technical accounting research experience at a publicly traded company.
  • Active CPA, CA, or equivalent certification required.
  • Deep, current expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Reg S-X, and Reg S-K.
  • Technical accounting experience in one or more of the following areas: loan accounting, securitization, transfers and servicing, or consolidation and revenue recognition.
  • Proven ability to perform complex technical research and analysis from problem definition through financial statement and disclosure impact.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems such as Workiva is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write high-quality technical memos and present complex accounting concepts to senior leadership and auditors.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage tight reporting deadlines and complex processes.
  • Self-starter with initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to streamlining processes and continuous improvement.

  • Base salary range of $185,000-$245,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT, or $164,000-$224,000 for other U.S. states.
