Description

  • Manage engineering resources to keep them fully utilized across internal and client projects.
  • Recruit, interview, train, and mentor engineering staff as additional resources are needed.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and recommend raises or promotions for engineering employees.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce department standards across all projects.
  • Oversee day-to-day engineering work from design and implementation through commissioning and close-out.
  • Ensure projects stay aligned with scope, schedule, cost, and risk targets.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define department goals and individual development goals.
  • Work with clients and internal teams to develop material handling systems and equipment that meet client needs.
  • Lead design reviews and attend client meetings to support project engineers.
  • Support vendor factory acceptance testing and first article inspections.
  • Oversee electrical and controls subcontractors.
  • Manage engineering cost, EACs, forecasts, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering such as Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in Controls and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams or project execution.
  • Proven experience delivering brownfield automation or material handling projects.
  • Strong understanding of PLC-based control systems, safety PLCs, and machine automation, with Rockwell preferred and Siemens or other platforms a plus.
  • Experience with industrial networking protocols such as EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Profinet.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical for schematics, panel layouts, and system diagrams.
  • Experience with electrical system design, implementation, commissioning, and site execution challenges.
  • Prior experience defining and working with software/PLC interfaces.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition or FactoryTalk View preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and controls issues efficiently.
  • Experience leading technical conversations with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to manage and mentor a diverse engineering staff, including remote team members.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and KPI project locations up to 25% of the time, based on project load.
