Description

  • Architect and own per-department read-only Snowflake views for product usage, customer, pipeline, revenue, and behavioral data.
  • Define the governed query layer, including materialization strategy, refresh cadence, and access boundaries.
  • Translate customer data policies and PII requirements into view logic and compliance controls.
  • Partner with DevOps to establish connection standards for AI agents and downstream applications.
  • Document warehouse schemas, field meanings, source connections, and exclusions for each view.
  • Modernize ad-hoc SQL and brittle pipelines into version-controlled, tested, modular transformation models.
  • Establish dbt or an equivalent transformation layer and introduce CI for SQL changes.
  • Own data contracts for Tableau and Mixpanel dashboards, including upstream pipelines and daily snapshot architecture.
  • Set technical direction for the data team and lead code reviews, mentoring, and architectural discussions.
  • Work directly with department leaders and Security to scope, prioritize, and validate data access needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years building production analytics systems on a cloud data warehouse, with Snowflake strongly preferred.
  • Deep SQL fluency, including CTEs, window functions, INFORMATION_SCHEMA, EXECUTE IMMEDIATE, and exception handling.
  • Experience designing data governance controls such as role-based access, view-level scrubbing, or row-level security at scale.
  • Production experience with dbt, SQLMesh, or a similar transformation framework, plus Git, code review, and CI for SQL.
  • Working understanding of BI and product analytics tools such as Tableau, Looker, Mode, or Mixpanel.
  • Track record of mentoring peers and influencing warehouse design decisions.
  • Strong written communication for design docs, schema documentation, and executive-facing decision records.
  • Experience with Fivetran or similar ELT tooling, especially across AWS, MySQL, Salesforce, LinkedIn Ads, and product event sources.
  • Experience supporting AI agents or LLM applications as data consumers, including connection patterns and rate limits.
  • Python experience for data engineering tasks such as ETL, pandas, or openpyxl.
  • Familiarity with PII handling under enterprise SaaS contracts.
  • Prior experience as the second or third data hire at a growing company is preferred.
