Description

  • Take ownership of the existing React Native/Expo and Firebase codebase and keep it stable, maintainable, and well-structured.
  • Lead architecture decisions to improve scalability, performance, reliability, and development velocity.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt while evolving the system to support rapid feature delivery and user growth.
  • Establish and refine engineering best practices, including coding standards, review processes, and release hygiene.
  • Implement new features and enhancements across mobile and backend systems from the product backlog.
  • Build and maintain Firebase and Firestore data models, security rules, and backend logic.
  • Work on Google Calendar syncing and related integrations to ensure data accuracy and a smooth user experience.
  • Contribute to future web implementation needs and help shape a consistent cross-platform architecture.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, implement fixes, and improve app performance and stability.
  • Collaborate with the Founder, CTO, and Product Manager to clarify requirements, estimate work, and drive practical solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including significant hands-on full-stack work.
  • Proven experience owning and evolving a production codebase in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong React Native and Expo experience.
  • Modern JavaScript and TypeScript proficiency.
  • Strong Firebase experience, including Firestore data modeling and performance and security best practices.
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs and sync workflows; Google Calendar experience is a major plus.
  • Strong React experience for future web implementation and cross-platform architecture design.
  • Experience designing scalable, robust architectures for consumer-facing applications.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release workflows.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate complex concepts simply.
  • Strong ownership mindset, proactivity, accountability, and comfort making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a remote-first environment.
  • Experience working in a startup environment with rapid iteration and shifting priorities (preferred).
  • Experience with consumer-facing apps, especially family or lifestyle products (preferred).
  • An understanding of parenting and busy family schedules, with genuine interest in reducing that mental load (preferred).
