Description

  • Lead, develop, and structure a distributed platform and data engineering organisation, including career pathways and team topologies.
  • Set and execute the multi-year platform engineering strategy and roadmap with the Platform Product Leader.
  • Evolve shared services, API gateway, integration layers, and the internal developer platform across product lines.
  • Establish API-first, secure, scalable, and reliable platform standards, including security-by-design and compliance practices.
  • Architect integration capabilities for acquired businesses, third-party automotive systems, OEMs, and dealer platforms.
  • Lead delivery of data lakes, pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and AI/ML platform services.
  • Enable an agentic software development lifecycle through AI tooling, workflows, guardrails, and internal LLM and agent infrastructure.
  • Embed observability, reliability targets, and FinOps governance across platform infrastructure.
  • Partner with engineering, product, data science, and executive leaders to align platform investments with business priorities.
  • Represent platform and data engineering strategy, progress, and investment cases to executive and board stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Deep cloud-native platform engineering experience on AWS, including Terraform or Pulumi, Kubernetes or ECS, Kafka, and API gateway patterns.
  • Proven experience designing and operating shared platform services, including integration layers, identity, multi-tenancy, and developer-facing APIs, in a multi-product enterprise SaaS environment.
  • Hands-on data platform engineering experience with data lakes, ELT pipelines, Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS data services such as Athena, Glue, and EMR.
  • Experience building AI/ML infrastructure, including feature stores, model serving, MLOps pipelines, MCP server infrastructure, or LLM gateway services.
  • Strong knowledge of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, SLOs, error budgets, and production reliability engineering.
  • Hands-on enterprise security, zero-trust architecture, and compliance experience with ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
  • Extensive leadership experience building and developing distributed engineering teams of 60+ people.
  • Experience leading M&A technical integration and platform standardisation across acquired businesses, codebases, and teams.
  • Strong FinOps expertise, including cloud cost governance, unit economics, and commercially framed infrastructure investment.
  • Experience scaling AI-native development tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor, and governing agentic engineering workflows.
  • Experience with modern delivery frameworks such as SAFe, Shape Up, or equivalent.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and cross-functional collaboration skills in a PE-backed, high-growth software environment.
