Description

  • Lead the design and evolution of large-scale systems and architectures to improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices across engineering teams and connect those efforts to delivery speed, product quality, and business outcomes.
  • Define and guide technical vision and strategy across teams, aligning engineering work with product and organizational goals.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape technical priorities and influence roadmap decisions.
  • Resolve ambiguity in technical problem spaces by defining approaches and driving clarity, alignment, and execution across teams.
  • Influence architecture, design patterns, and best practices across multiple teams.
  • Provide code review feedback and technical guidance to uphold code quality, maintainability, and sound design.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical issues and identify systemic patterns to prevent recurring problems.
  • Improve system health, availability, and reliability through better observability, monitoring, and operational practices.
  • Lead efforts to reduce technical debt and modernize existing systems, including re-platforming initiatives and tooling improvements.
  • Mentor engineers and promote a culture of engineering excellence across teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Technical Support, QA, Design, Documentation, and Product Management.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership on complex, cross-team initiatives.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and industry-standard design patterns and practices.
  • Deep experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed, high-performance systems and architectures.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating production applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud-native services across compute, storage, networking, and managed data, plus cloud architecture and security best practices.
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and drive clarity, alignment, and execution across teams.
  • Strong ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with an emphasis on automated coverage.
  • Deep experience with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting.
  • Forward-looking experience leading the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling across engineering teams.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, performing root cause analysis, debugging complex issues, and communicating clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Independent, driven, and able to demonstrate strong ownership in delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Rust, C#, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with full stack and API development across frontend and backend layers.
  • Experience with modern authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
  • Experience maintaining and operating production services at scale, including incident response and post-mortem facilitation.
  • Experience with distributed and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep.
  • Experience implementing modern security practices, including secure coding, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems, automated testing gates, and progressive deployment strategies.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational data stores and how to choose between them.
