Description

  • Plan and implement ESOL classes that improve employees’ language and career-building skills.
  • Develop and modify contextualized curriculum and daily lesson plans based on student and employer needs.
  • Deliver training, follow the course outline, and ensure students achieve predetermined learning outcomes.
  • Create emergency lesson plans and upload daily plans in advance.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide feedback, and assign or correct work in a timely manner.
  • Support assessment, enrollment, delivery of services, and pre/post testing.
  • Track outcomes, dashboard indicators, and program results for reports to funders and evaluators.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with supervisors, employer partners, team members, and other JVS departments.
  • Manage classroom volunteers and respond to changes, setbacks, and other classroom challenges.
  • Communicate directly with students via WhatsApp and maintain professional relationships off site with employer partners.

Requirements

  • Must be located in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island.
  • 6-12 hours per week, with morning and/or evening availability, including 1:1 planning time.
  • 2 or more years of ESOL teaching experience with adults preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, motivate, and relate to adult learners.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and classroom management skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Ability to work tactfully with a diverse group of clients and collaborate both independently and as part of a team.
  • BS or BA in Education or a related field preferred; TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate preferred; or 3+ years directly related experience, or an associate degree/certificate plus 2 years of related experience.
