Description

  • Lead major infrastructure initiatives that improve the effectiveness of the engineering organization.
  • Own the technical execution and reliable delivery of critical systems that underpin JumpCloud’s services.
  • Design, architect, and maintain production-grade container clusters and microservices at scale.
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes-based platform components and supporting infrastructure.
  • Develop automation and internal platform tools to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure across multi-account and multi-region environments.
  • Implement and support observability tooling for infrastructure and services.
  • Work with secrets management and certificate management systems to secure platform operations.
  • Participate in on-call shifts and respond to production alerts during assigned coverage.
  • Collaborate with engineering teammates to solve complex infrastructure and platform problems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering.
  • Experience with cloud service providers and high-availability distributed systems design.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as IAM, VPC, Route53, EKS, CloudFront, NLB/ALB, Transit Gateway, and Global Accelerator.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Crossplane, and service meshes such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
  • Strong Terraform experience, including module design, state management, provider upgrades, and large-scale refactoring.
  • Experience writing clean, maintainable code to automate operational tasks and build internal tools.
  • Experience with secrets management tools such as HashiCorp Vault, Consul, AWS Secrets Manager, KMS, External Secrets Operator, and Cert Manager.
  • Experience deploying applications in a public cloud environment with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Preferred: experience designing core infrastructure components of a platform.
  • Preferred: experience managing cloud deployments with Terraform or Crossplane.
  • Preferred: container orchestration experience with Kubernetes, ECS, or Nomad, with bonus experience in Argo or Istio.
  • Preferred: experience with configuration management tools.
  • Preferred: experience using AI in day-to-day infrastructure work.
  • Preferred: exposure to cost savings and infrastructure optimization.
