Description

  • Own the product vision for the Scala plugin and ensure it delivers fast, correct, and trustworthy IDE support.
  • Analyze product usage statistics and conduct ongoing user interviews to inform product decisions.
  • Use IntelliJ IDEA with the Scala plugin daily to dogfood features, catch regressions, and validate the user experience.

  • Own and continuously adapt the plugin roadmap across short-, mid-, and long-term initiatives.
  • Align plugin planning with Scala compiler releases and IntelliJ IDEA release trains.

  • Make product trade-off decisions, including when to say no based on cost, risk, or maintenance burden.

  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Willingness to represent the product externally at conferences, in blog posts, and in community interactions.
  • Strong personal interest in developer experience and daily workflow quality.
  • Preferred: experience developing IntelliJ Platform plugins or using the IntelliJ Platform SDK.
  • Preferred: other technical experience with language tooling and IDEs.
  • Preferred: experience building evaluation pipelines, benchmarks, or quality measurement systems.
  • Preferred: experience giving technical talks or publishing content for developer audiences.
