Description

  • Attend incident scenes to document conditions, collect evidence, and interview witnesses.
  • Lead investigations into the origin, cause, and development of more complex fire and explosion cases.
  • Liaise with experts representing other interested parties during investigations.
  • Produce detailed, accurate technical reports on investigation findings.
  • Provide expert witness evidence when required.
  • Use the case management system to record all case-related activity in line with SLA requirements.
  • Participate in joint examinations and coordinate with specialists where necessary.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing professional development, research, and review of scientific literature.
  • Attend marketing events and represent Jensen Hughes at meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare and present articles or presentations for training and marketing purposes.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in fire investigation, fire engineering, forensic science, or another relevant discipline.
  • Practical experience in fire or forensic investigation is essential.
  • Membership in a professional body is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply scientific and systematic approaches to incident scene examination.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.
  • High attention to detail, a flexible approach, and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Frequent, often short-notice travel across Ireland and the UK, with some overseas travel required.
  • A current driving licence is required.
  • Car ownership is ideally preferred.
