Description

  • Own finance workflows end to end, from problem definition and design through production launch and continuous improvement.
  • Design agentic and LLM-based systems incorporating extraction, retrieval, reasoning, tool use, and human review.
  • Build production-grade LLM pipelines with structured outputs, validation, fallbacks, and confidence scoring.
  • Develop retrieval and RAG systems using chunking, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking.
  • Integrate AI services with backend systems through reliable APIs, retries, graceful degradation, and customer data isolation.
  • Manage model selection, latency, and cost across workflow steps.
  • Create evaluation datasets, automated tests, monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and audit trails for AI systems.
  • Establish reusable AI engineering patterns and tooling, mentor teammates on AI-assisted development, and review system designs.
  • Collaborate directly with customers, finance users, Product, and Backend Engineering to define workflow needs and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years building and operating production LLM or AI systems.
  • Experience owning large systems or workflows from scoping and design through launch and iteration with limited direction.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM applications using Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar APIs, including structured outputs, error handling, and evaluation.
  • Experience designing agentic, multi-step AI workflows or RAG systems with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
  • Strong Python proficiency and backend experience with REST APIs, PostgreSQL or similar databases, async patterns, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Regular use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with an understanding of their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience with AI observability, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Preferred experience in fintech, financial services, regulated industries, finance automation, or back-office workflows.
  • Preferred technical leadership, startup or scale-up experience, Spanish or Portuguese fluency, or contributions to open source, technical writing, or applied AI talks.
