Description

  • Own finance workflows end to end, from problem definition and design through production launch and continuous improvement.
  • Design agentic and LLM-based systems using extraction, retrieval, reasoning, tool use, and human review.
  • Build reliable LLM pipelines with structured outputs, validation, fallbacks, and confidence scoring.
  • Develop retrieval and RAG components, including chunking, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking.
  • Integrate AI services with backend systems using clear APIs, retries, graceful degradation, and customer data isolation.
  • Manage model selection, cost, and latency across workflow steps.
  • Create evaluation sets, automated evaluations, monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerts.
  • Maintain auditable records of AI decisions for regulated financial products.
  • Establish shared AI engineering patterns and tooling, review system designs, and promote effective use of AI coding tools.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years building and operating production LLM or AI systems.
  • Experience owning large systems or workflows from scoping and design through launch and iteration with limited direction.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar, including structured outputs, error handling, and evaluation.
  • Experience building agentic or multi-step AI workflows, or RAG systems using vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
  • Strong Python skills and backend experience with REST APIs, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, asynchronous patterns, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with an understanding of their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience with AI observability, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry is preferred.
  • Experience automating finance or back-office workflows, technical leadership, startup or scale-up development, Spanish or Portuguese fluency, or applied AI writing and open-source contributions are preferred.
