Description

  • Own day-to-day database operations and service requests across cloud-native Cloud SQL and legacy SQL Server environments.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models for software and data product teams.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to implement scalable, low-latency database services for OLTP and analytical workloads.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for schema migrations using Liquibase or Flyway.
  • Automate database provisioning, monitoring, and security hardening using Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform.
  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues by analyzing telemetry, query patterns, indexing, and capacity bottlenecks.
  • Support ETL pipelines and real-time data movement in cloud-native environments alongside data engineering teams.
  • Document operational runbooks, architecture decisions, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Partner with principal engineers and Enterprise Architecture to design reusable patterns and blueprints for common database workloads.

Requirements

  • Proficient experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
  • Solid experience writing and tuning SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and indexing strategies for performance and scalability.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for schema migrations using Liquibase or Flyway.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native managed database services such as Cloud SQL on GCP or equivalent.
  • Experience with observability and telemetry tools for database performance analysis, such as Cloud Monitoring or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience supporting ETL pipelines or real-time data movement in cloud environments.
  • Experience working with Git in team environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform for database provisioning and automation (nice to have).
  • Experience with AlloyDB (nice to have).
