Description

  • Participate in technical interviews covering system design and deep-dive technical discussions.
  • Ask scenario-based questions centered on production challenges and regulatory constraints.
  • Evaluate candidates’ practical experience, trade-off decisions, and ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Review take-home assignments or architectural diagrams when applicable.
  • Assess candidate understanding of data platform architecture, ingestion pipelines, distributed processing, dataset versioning, storage optimization, metadata services, labeling workflows, and compliance considerations.
  • Judge whether proposed solutions are traceable, auditable, and production-ready.
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback with a hire or no-hire recommendation.
  • Challenge candidates on technical decisions and defend evaluations to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale data or ML platforms.
  • Experience with end-to-end data platforms spanning on-prem infrastructure and AWS.
  • Strong familiarity with medical imaging workflows, including DICOM, PACS, and tools such as Orthanc.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Batch, preferably using Spot instances, plus general AWS knowledge including S3, IAM, and networking concepts.
  • Practical experience with ClearML or comparable dataset versioning and experiment tracking tools.
  • Experience with Lance or similar high-performance data access layers.
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL-based services for metadata, labels, and predictions.
  • Familiarity with OpenSearch for text or vector search is a plus.
  • Experience integrating labeling platforms, with Encord preferred.
  • Solid understanding of 21 CFR Part 11 expectations and experience working with HIPAA or PHI-regulated data.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, medical imaging, or regulated ML systems is strongly preferred.
  • Senior or Principal-level background as a Data Engineer, ML Platform Engineer, or MLOps Engineer.
