Description

  • Design and maintain Shopify themes, templates, sections, and app extensions using Liquid, JSON, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Engineer advanced Shopify functionality for checkout, cart, and pricing using Shopify Functions.
  • Implement Checkout Extensibility and manage data exchange through webhooks and custom/private app integrations with GraphQL and REST APIs.
  • Improve performance and SEO by optimizing Core Web Vitals, images, CDN usage, lazy loading, structured data, and semantic markup.
  • Configure Shopify Markets for international commerce, including domains or subfolders, currencies, duties and taxes, translations, and price lists.
  • Implement automated testing with Playwright/Cypress and Jest, and set up CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
  • Define performance budgets and monitoring processes to maintain quality and reliability.
  • Deliver accessible user experiences that meet WCAG standards, including keyboard navigation, landmarks, and ARIA attributes.
  • Collaborate with Design, Content, and Growth teams, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Track production metrics and user funnels, then iterate to improve conversion rate and average order value.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional web development experience, including at least 5 years developing on Shopify.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Liquid, Online Store 2.0, sections and blocks, metafields, theme app extensions, and Shopify CLI.
  • Deep understanding of Shopify Storefront API, Admin API preferably GraphQL, App Bridge, webhooks, and app integrations for subscriptions, search, reviews, loyalty, and analytics.
  • Proven experience launching and optimizing large-scale, high-traffic e-commerce platforms with complex business flows.
  • Experience with headless Shopify implementations using Hydrogen/Remix or Next.js, including edge rendering and advanced caching strategies.
  • Proficiency in React, Node.js, serverless technologies such as Cloudflare or AWS, and GraphQL tooling.
  • Strong background in HTML, CSS/SCSS, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and DOM performance optimization.
  • Expertise in performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, CDN caching, and conversion-rate optimization at scale.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
  • Nice to have: experience with A/B testing, feature flagging, payments, fraud prevention, tax/duties, subscriptions, and ERP/PIM integrations.
  • Nice to have: experience building custom or private Shopify apps, including OAuth and secure key management.
  • Nice to have: bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Nice to have: experience with testing frameworks such as Jest and Cypress in e-commerce environments.
  • English proficiency at B2 level.
