Description

  • Own and drive the design system roadmap by prioritizing product needs, system health, and adoption friction.
  • Define and evolve system UX, including components, patterns, interaction states, responsive behavior, motion, and accessibility defaults.
  • Lead token strategy end to end, including primitive and semantic tokens, theming, density, extensibility, and component API consistency.
  • Establish governance and lifecycle management standards, including contribution rules, quality bars, reviews, versioning, deprecations, and migration plans.
  • Create implementation-aware specs with edge cases, constraints, usage guidance, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate in component-based workflows such as Figma libraries and Storybook to ensure design-to-code fidelity.
  • Build design enablement tools and workflows such as linting rules, templates, plugin experiences, and structured knowledge models.
  • Use AI tools to streamline audits, consistency checks, migrations, and spec generation.
  • Measure adoption and impact, identify workflow friction, and run enablement programs that improve consistency and reduce rework.
  • Partner closely with engineering, design technologists, and cross-functional stakeholders to support system adoption across product teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in product design or an equivalent role.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining a design system used by multiple product teams.
  • A portfolio demonstrating design systems expertise, cross-platform consistency, and a portfolio link is required.
  • Technical fluency with component-based workflows such as Figma component libraries and Storybook or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with token pipelines and tooling such as CSS variables and semantic token architectures.
  • Experience writing implementation-aware specs with acceptance criteria.
  • Proven accessibility experience for systems, including WCAG 2.1 AA and accessible defaults.
  • Demonstrated use of AI or automation to improve speed and quality for design systems work.
  • Experience driving adoption through metrics, deprecation and migration programs, and cross-functional enablement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-assisted coding and design tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
  • Preferred: Experience building Figma plugins or linting and guardrail tooling.
  • Preferred: Track record implementing scalable theming, density, and semantic token strategies across multiple products or platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience facilitating design sprints, co-creation workshops, or governance reviews.
  • Preferred: Data fluency using telemetry, adoption metrics, and experiments to inform roadmap decisions and deprecations.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with versioned monorepos or multi-package design system releases and migration planning.

  • Base pay range of $203,000-$214,000 USD in CA, NY, CT, and NJ.
  • Base pay range of $194,000-$205,000 USD in WA.
  • Base pay range of $185,000-$195,500 USD in OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, and HI.
  • Base pay range of $169,000-$178,500 USD in all other U.S. states.
