Description

  • Own technical direction for storage platforms as a senior engineer with substantial autonomy.
  • Work closely with application engineering teams and internal stakeholders from problem understanding through solution delivery.
  • Design and ship high-quality, scalable, and robust storage solutions with urgency.
  • Drive high-impact storage initiatives that improve resiliency, high availability, and company-wide storage efficiency.
  • Steward database infrastructure supporting core business lines across hundreds of clusters and petabytes of data.
  • Build and improve automated monitoring and control-plane systems for database clusters.
  • Develop supporting services such as database proxies, snapshotting, and backups.
  • Work with major cloud providers and support multiple environments for development and testing.
  • Advance infrastructure-level data privacy and compliance capabilities.
  • Contribute to forward-looking architecture, including distributed database systems, AI agent-based monitoring and operations, and tiered database storage.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale cloud services or application development environments.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience delivering large-scale solutions with an industry-recognized database, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • 1+ year of experience building cloud-based control-plane software.
  • Strong ability to architect and design systems using common back-end web technologies in production.
  • Experience working in a large codebase on a cross-functional team and driving alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance urgency with shipping high-quality, pragmatic solutions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to evolve complex existing systems to meet changing business needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with distributed databases such as Yugabyte, CRDB, or TiDB preferred.
  • Experience mentoring other software engineers and helping them grow professionally preferred.

  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant.
  • Eligible for annual refresh equity grants.
  • Base salary range of $230,000-$242,000 USD for CA, NY, CT, and NJ; $220,000-$232,000 USD for WA; $211,000-$222,000 USD for several other listed states; and $192,000-$202,000 USD for all other states.
