Description

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions for marketplace and fulfillment challenges.
  • Work on combinatorial optimization, mathematical programming, and AI problems related to order batching, shopper routing, service availability prediction, and real-time assignment.
  • Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to translate business needs into ML applications.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure solutions are integrated effectively and aligned with business goals.
  • Continuously refine and advance algorithms and models to improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to systems that influence profitability and shopper experience at scale.
  • Support the intelligence and execution of Instacart’s fulfillment system across a high-throughput, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of industry experience applying machine learning to real-world problems with large datasets.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Fluency with data manipulation tools such as SQL and Pandas.
  • Experience with machine learning tools such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, and Keras/TensorFlow.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across all levels.
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks and methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience applying machine learning and optimization techniques to marketplace problems (preferred).

Benefits

  • Remote role with Flex First work flexibility.
  • Highly market-competitive compensation.
  • Base salary range of $207,000–$218,500 for CA, NY, CT, and NJ; $198,000–$209,000 for WA; $190,000–$205,000 for select states and DC; and $173,000–$182,500 for all other states.
  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant.
  • Eligible for annual refresh grants.
  • Access to Instacart benefits offerings.
