Description

  • Propose approaches to ambiguous applied machine learning problems and validate them through research and experimentation.
  • Build proof-of-concepts that support technical and product decision-making.
  • Own the ML core, evaluation logic, and research outcomes for prototype work.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to package prototypes into demos.
  • Frame ideas and drive end-to-end exploration streams from concept to demo delivery.
  • Influence which research directions become strategic bets for the company.
  • Provide technical leadership on selected initiatives, including mentoring and setting standards for ML experimentation and quality.
  • Work with existing prototypes, datasets, and evaluation methods while accounting for limited or imperfect data.

Requirements

  • Several years of hands-on applied machine learning experience spanning both theory and practice.
  • Experience translating research ideas into working prototypes by reading papers, selecting methods, and adapting approaches to real constraints.
  • Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong Python engineering habits, including readability, testing, and maintainability.
  • Comfort working in a product-oriented R&D environment where success is measured by validated demos and technical clarity.
  • Clear communication skills and experience collaborating closely with Software Engineers.
  • PhD or published research is preferred.
  • Experience with biometrics or computer vision is preferred.
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ML tooling for experimentation, evaluation, and reproducibility, plus Git, Linux, and Docker or similar tools.

  • Senior engineers are eligible for a variable pay program with a target of 20% of annual guaranteed pay.

  • Hybrid setup with preference for Bratislava or Brno, or Europe-based candidates with regular travel to HQ.
  • Approximately 15–20% onsite work, typically clustered around demos or collaboration phases.
  • Interview process includes a tailored technical round and the option to request additional conversations with Innovatrics team members.
