Description

  • Lead a frontend team building and evolving Marketing Email and SMS management experiences, including dashboards, creation flows, send/review UIs, experimentation, and onboarding surfaces.
  • Write high-quality React and TypeScript code while guiding architectural decisions and reviewing designs.
  • Own the technical strategy for the team’s frontend surface area, including modular architecture, design system usage, and cross-app library boundaries.
  • Partner with Product Management and Product Design to set goals, sequence work, and balance customer impact, reliability, and iteration speed.
  • Drive medium-to-large multi-quarter initiatives end-to-end from problem definition and technical proposals through implementation, rollout, and measurement.
  • Champion reliability and service maturity by defining SLIs/SLOs and improving frontend performance such as bundle size and latency.
  • Mentor and grow engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and 1:1s.
  • Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams to design reliable, observable front-to-back solutions across messaging channels.
  • Help define and uphold engineering best practices across testing, accessibility, telemetry, experimentation, and on-call practices.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and representation of HubSpot values and HEART culture throughout the interview process.

Requirements

  • Typically 7+ years of deep frontend engineering experience building complex user-facing web applications.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript tooling, ideally at SaaS scale.
  • Proven track record leading at least 2–3 medium-to-large projects from design through production with customer or business impact.
  • Strong frontend system design and architecture skills, including the ability to define interfaces, boundaries, and pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Experience leading a small team or pod as a player-coach while still contributing meaningfully to the codebase.
  • Strong ownership of reliability and quality, including experience resolving performance issues, production incidents, and test flakiness.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, including writing clear documentation and aligning engineers and non-engineers across teams and time zones.
  • Customer- and product-oriented mindset focused on improving real workflows using data and feedback.
  • Experience in marketing technology, messaging, or communications products such as email, SMS, or WhatsApp (nice to have).
  • Background on large-scale, multi-surface products with shared libraries, design systems, and infrastructure (nice to have).
  • Experience with performance optimization, including bundle size, lazy loading, caching strategies, and SLO-driven development (nice to have).
  • Comfort working with experimentation and AI-powered workflows, or interest in learning quickly in this space (nice to have).
  • Prior experience mentoring senior engineers and collaborating with engineering managers and tech leads on promotions and growth plans (nice to have).
