Description

  • Lead the Security Privacy team and own the technical direction for privacy tooling.
  • Co-set product strategy as part of the TL/PM triad.
  • Design and evolve distributed systems that scan codebase and infrastructure for PII usage and dataset ownership.
  • Build services that classify datasets, enforce data protection standards, and automate GDPR deletion workflows.
  • Own reliability, on-call health, incident response, and continuous improvement for production services.
  • Collaborate with Privacy, Legal, Security, product, and infrastructure teams to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
  • Review code, write software, and provide technical guidance in a hands-on leadership role.
  • Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews, pairing, and feedback.
  • Shape the roadmap for managing and protecting personal data at scale.
  • Build an inclusive, high-trust team culture and help grow the engineers on the team.

Requirements

  • Senior backend engineering experience with prior leadership of small teams, projects, or technical areas.
  • Comfort designing and operating distributed systems in production, such as microservices, message queues, or data pipelines.
  • Strong experience with at least one JVM language, ideally Java.
  • Experience with relational databases, such as MySQL.
  • Experience with technologies like Kafka, asynchronous processing, or large-scale data systems is a plus.
  • Experience participating in or running on-call rotations.
  • Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Interest in or experience with security, compliance, risk, or privacy domains, such as SOX, ISO 27001, SOC reports, or data protection (nice to have).
  • Background building data or reporting platforms that integrate with third-party systems and internal data warehouses (nice to have).
  • Prior work with auditors, risk, or GRC teams, or building systems for audits and regulatory requirements (nice to have).
