Description

  • Build and maintain backend features, including APIs, background jobs, and integrations.
  • Improve and maintain the data pipeline to keep affiliate data accurate and up to date.
  • Write PostgreSQL and BigQuery reports and queries for clicks, conversions, commissions, and payouts.
  • Build internal dashboards and reports such as payout summaries, revenue attribution, and cohort breakdowns.
  • Fix performance issues, including slow queries, background jobs, and system bottlenecks.
  • Work closely with the CTO and product team to ship features quickly.
  • Monitor shipped work and take ownership from implementation through production support.
  • Provide technical support for client-specific issues, custom scripts, and data investigations.
  • Use AI development tools daily to increase output and speed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby on Rails, or solid Python/TypeScript skills with a willingness to learn the stack.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex query writing, query optimization, and production use of PostgreSQL and BigQuery.
  • Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and background job systems such as Sidekiq or Celery.
  • Experience building internal tooling and business-facing dashboards, ideally for financial or affiliate data.
  • An async-first, high-ownership work style with strong written communication and independent decision-making.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Data or analytics engineering experience is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with dbt is preferred, or a strong desire to learn it quickly.
