Description

  • Provide legal counsel and practical, risk-based guidance to business stakeholders and clients.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents, including MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, and commercial agreements.
  • Manage matters across corporate governance, employment, compliance, litigation, regulatory, privacy, intellectual property, real estate, or transactions, depending on background.
  • Oversee outside counsel, budgets, and matter strategy, including discovery, motion practice, settlement discussions, and reporting.
  • Support internal investigations, policy development, and regulatory response activities as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and document retention expectations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Procurement, Sales, Operations, and Security to improve legal workflows and outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives such as playbooks, clause libraries, contract lifecycle management, and matter management.
  • Produce clear written materials, presentations, and training for non-legal audiences.
  • Mentor junior team members and help raise quality standards across the function.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction for attorney roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with relevant legal experience for legal operations, contracts, compliance, or specialist roles.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree and/or relevant paralegal certification may be required or preferred for paralegal and legal assistant roles.
  • Typically 5–12+ years of progressive legal experience in law firm and/or in-house settings.
  • Experience in one or more areas such as contracts, corporate/commercial law, employment, compliance, litigation management, privacy, regulatory, or legal operations.
  • Strong drafting, issue-spotting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with legal systems and tools such as CLM, e-billing, matter management, document management, eDiscovery platforms, and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to translate legal concepts into actionable business guidance.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain discretion and professionalism.
