Description

  • Lead safe, compliant coal production across underground and/or surface operations.
  • Maintain and strengthen MSHA compliance programs, including inspections, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Drive daily execution through production planning, crew leadership, equipment utilization, and KPI reporting.
  • Improve equipment availability and reliability across mobile fleet, fixed plant, conveyor systems, and prep plant interfaces.
  • Support ground control, ventilation, and production sequence planning as applicable to the role.
  • Oversee contractor management, permitting workflows, and operational readiness where required.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to reduce cycle time, downtime, and cost per ton.
  • Support capital projects, maintenance shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop teams through coaching, SOPs, training, and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience for certain leadership roles.
  • Typically 5–12+ years of experience in coal operations, maintenance, planning, or HSE leadership.
  • Strong experience with MSHA requirements.
  • Underground and/or surface mining experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with maintenance systems (CMMS), work management, reliability practices, and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in site-based environments.
  • Comfortable working shift or rotation schedules.
