Description

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of backend-heavy features for industry-specific solutions.
  • Design scalable APIs and business logic using Node.js/NestJS and data layers including Firestore, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs across APIs, data models, integrations, and event-driven systems.
  • Build event-driven infrastructure using GCP services such as Cloud Tasks, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
  • Develop integrations with industry systems of record, including synchronization, webhooks, and error recovery.
  • Own major initiatives for a reusable industry layer of configurable models, templates, and automation packs.
  • Manage the full development lifecycle, including API design, data modeling, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with core platform, application, product, and domain-expert teams to develop scalable extension points.
  • Implement industry-specific privacy, consent, and audit-trail requirements.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems and API design.
  • Deep expertise in Node.js/NestJS, TypeScript, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases at scale.
  • Ability to work end-to-end across the stack, with ownership of backend complexity and UI integrations.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous workflows, queues, background jobs, webhooks, and system state transitions.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs, including authentication flows, rate limits, data mapping, and reliable synchronization.
  • Familiarity with GCP services or willingness to work hands-on with them.
  • Openness to using AI development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code.
  • Strong debugging and system-design skills, including navigating ambiguity and making pragmatic architectural decisions.
  • Experience with vertical SaaS, industry standards or systems such as HL7/FHIR, RESO/MLS, payments or POS integrations, configuration-driven systems, or regulated environments such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and GDPR (preferred).
