Description

  • Create complex materials for characters, weapons, environments, and large world set pieces.
  • Support teams with Blueprint setup and management for interactable items, weapons, environments, and gameplay elements.
  • Establish workflows and tools that help artists create unique assets in DDC packages and Unreal Engine.
  • Develop visual effects across a range of styles, from realistic to stylized.
  • Work with engineers and artists to optimize content for multiple platforms.
  • Manage multiple complex tasks concurrently and deliver work from concept through completion.
  • Share techniques, solutions, and best practices with the broader art team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment that improves department performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional technical art experience in the game industry.
  • At least one shipped title.
  • Strong online portfolio or reel showcasing game technical art.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 art pipelines.
  • Experience working with Blueprints, the Material Editor, and technical systems such as Foliage, Landscape, RVT, PCG, and Water.
  • Strong understanding of PBR principles and material editors.
  • Experience with modeling and texturing tools such as Substance Designer and Substance Painter.
  • Secondary experience in areas such as modeling, skinning, animation, proceduralism, scripting, or lighting.
  • Ability to push Unreal Engine further and contribute to technical innovation.
  • Desire and ability to own features and initiatives from inception to ship.
  • Experience working on multiple platforms.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take critique and follow art direction.
  • Passion for video games.
  • Experience with Niagara systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Lumen and TOD sequenced-based lighting is a plus.
  • Experience creating tools, automation, generators, or procedural systems is a plus.
  • Experience with optimization workflows for Gen 9, Gen 8, and mobile platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working on multiplayer games is a plus.
  • Resume and portfolio link required; an art test may be required as part of the process.
