Description

  • Own the mechanical design of drone components and full assemblies from concept through validated hardware.
  • Produce 3D models and 2D drawings that meet ASME/ISO standards and manufacturing requirements.
  • Translate requirements into design concepts and assess standard mechanical elements such as bolts, bearings, and fittings.
  • Build and integrate prototypes hands-on and evaluate robustness, usability, and ruggedized performance.
  • Plan and execute validation test campaigns to mature designs and reduce programme risk.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation in line with company quality standards and PLM workflows.
  • Ensure traceability across the full product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate within a hardware engineering organization to develop scalable and cost-effective components.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and delivering mechanical parts and assemblies for aerospace or similarly demanding applications.
  • Proficiency with 3D and 2D CAD tools such as SolidWorks/PDM or Siemens NX/Teamcenter.
  • Strong understanding of ASME/ISO drawing standards and mechanical design standards.
  • Experience with analytical assessment of standard mechanical components.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and testing prototypes, using test outcomes to improve designs.
  • Ability to communicate complex design intent clearly in written English.
  • Experience producing documentation that meets rigorous engineering quality standards within a PLM environment.
  • Ability to act decisively with minimal guidance and own outcomes end-to-end.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) principles in fast-paced drone or UAV development programmes (nice to have).
  • Experience working within structured product development processes, including requirements management and design review gating (nice to have).
