Description

  • Research, design, and train large-scale foundational models for physical-world applications.
  • Train and fine-tune vision-language models on custom datasets for Helsing’s products.
  • Own the full model lifecycle from data curation through training and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement custom layers, loss functions, and distributed training loops in code.
  • Contribute to internal research by turning theoretical ideas into working implementations quickly.
  • Collaborate within an engineering and AI research environment focused on advanced multimodal modeling.
  • Help improve model capabilities, robustness, and performance on complex multimodal data.
  • Participate in technical debate and contribute to Helsing’s research culture and outcomes.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or Mathematics with a focus on Deep Learning.
  • Theoretical understanding and practical experience training foundational models such as LLMs, VLMs, or other large-scale multimodal models from scratch or via fine-tuning.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python.
  • Fluency with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
  • Comfort writing custom layers, loss functions, and distributed training loops.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build from complex theoretical concepts.
  • A first-principles mindset and interest in reading and implementing recent ArXiv papers quickly.
  • Preferred: authored publications at top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, or ACL.
  • Preferred: experience training models on large-scale GPU clusters.
  • Preferred: experience with data curation, data cleaning, data pruning, and building robust data pipelines for large-scale datasets.
