Description

  • Shape engineering standards and practices around observability across the organization.
  • Own and evolve the observability platform, including distributed logging, metrics, and tracing infrastructure.
  • Build AI-native capabilities to detect anomalies, diagnose failures, and accelerate root cause analysis.
  • Create developer-facing tools such as dashboards, notebooks, and interactive debugging workflows.
  • Drive reliability automation through intelligent alerting, diagnostics, and incident response systems.
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed observability and reliability best practices into their work.
  • Mentor engineers and help influence reliability culture across the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience building and operating large-scale observability or monitoring infrastructure.
  • Experience implementing or operating observability platforms such as Datadog, Sentry, Splunk, or similar.
  • Strong coding proficiency in at least one of Ruby, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Experience operating large-scale distributed systems in production, especially logging platforms or time series databases.
  • Strong fundamentals in systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and solve unscoped problems end to end.
  • Product mindset or full-stack instincts and interest in building tools engineers want to use.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bonus experience building or contributing to observability ecosystems such as OpenTelemetry or Prometheus.
  • Preferred cloud infrastructure experience, especially AWS.
  • Preferred experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
  • Preferred container orchestration experience, such as Kubernetes.
  • Preferred Linux systems knowledge and shell proficiency.
  • Preferred experience designing highly available and scalable systems.
  • Preferred experience acting as an internal consultant or trusted advisor.

  • Cash compensation targeted at $200,000-$230,000 per year for Denver and most remote locations.
  • Cash compensation targeted at $230,000-$270,000 per year for San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.
  • Hybrid office schedule of approximately 2-3 days per week for employees based in office locations.
  • A secure, reliable internet connection is supported for approved remote work arrangements.
