Description

  • Architect, build, test, and refine Gusto’s native Android app and supporting mobile web views.
  • Develop and improve product features that connect core business functions, work tools, value-added services, and financial products.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and partner teams to identify pain points and prototype solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with identity, security, design systems, infrastructure, and product app teams to deliver mobile experiences.
  • Build and scale shared services such as push notifications and localization.
  • Maintain and improve Android mobile infrastructure, including build pipelines, test automation, and release processes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Kotlin and Android software engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in mobile software engineering overall.
  • Strong communication skills and experience building cross-functional partnerships.
  • Ability to lead greenfield projects and bring new ideas to life.
  • Proficiency in Android testing frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience developing platform components and common features that improve scalability, consistency, and maintainability.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn continuously and mentor teammates.
  • Preferred: experience delivering high-quality code across a diverse tech stack.
  • Preferred: strong knowledge of Compose and/or GraphQL.
  • Preferred: familiarity with MVVM architecture.
  • Preferred: experience with analytics and monitoring tools for app performance and engagement.
  • Preferred: familiarity with mobile infrastructure, including CI/CD, automated testing environments, and build and release systems.
  • Preferred: comfort navigating ambiguity and setting clear milestones and deliverables.
  • Ability to work from office locations 2-3 days per week if based in Denver, San Francisco, New York City, or Scottsdale (Symmetry roles).
  • Secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection required for approved remote work days.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay with stock equity (RSUs) for full-time employees.
  • Cash compensation targeted at $163,000 to $194,000 per year in Denver and most remote locations.
  • Cash compensation targeted at $197,000 to $235,000 per year in San Francisco, New York, and Seattle.
  • Cash compensation targeted at $175,000 to $208,000 CAD per year in Canada.
  • Health insurance and 401(k) benefits.
  • Hybrid office schedule with approximately 2-3 in-office days per week for employees based in office locations.
