Description

  • Coordinate customs clearance with brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Review CBP Form 7501 entry summaries for classification, origin, value, duties, and tariff provisions.
  • Resolve entry discrepancies, track corrections, and escalate clearance or cost risks.
  • Maintain entry records linking transactions to load numbers, purchase orders, projects, and supporting documents.
  • Manage broker and freight forwarder relationships and evaluate performance.
  • Maintain HTSUS classification records and research tariff changes, CBP guidance, and trade programs.
  • Manage Periodic Monthly Statement reconciliation, duty payments, liquidation deadlines, protests, and refund claims.
  • Administer ACE access, importer records, customs bonds, powers of attorney, and trade documentation.
  • Develop compliance procedures, conduct entry audits, train internal teams, and report risks and duty trends to leadership.
  • Identify tariff optimization and process improvement opportunities, escalating complex matters to brokers or trade counsel.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on customs compliance, brokerage, or importer compliance experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple clients, suppliers, or companies across diverse products and geographies.
  • Practical expertise with ACE, PMS reconciliation, CBP Form 7501, HTSUS classification, customs valuation, and country-of-origin requirements.
  • Experience researching tariff changes, exclusions, trade programs, and operational cost impacts.
  • Experience with USMCA or other preferential trade program documentation.
  • Strong Excel, reconciliation, recordkeeping, analytical, organizational, and deadline-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with Operations, Finance, Procurement, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and prioritize competing demands.
  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist credential preferred.
  • Manufacturing or industrial equipment experience; knowledge of Mexico imports, Chapter 99, Sections 232/301, protests, multiple brokers, ERP systems, or customs platforms preferred.
