Description

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the extraction and formulation function in line with business objectives and market trends.
  • Lead initiatives to improve extraction technologies, filling and formulation processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Direct multi-site operations to maintain consistency, reliability, quality, and support business growth.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as safety standards across all sites.
  • Partner with product development to identify and launch new extracts, edibles, and concentrates.
  • Design, pilot, and implement new technologies at scale in collaboration with R&D and engineering.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend process improvements to enhance product quality and consistency.
  • Establish best practices, SOPs, and facility standards for extraction processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to increase throughput, yields, and overall efficiency.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of functional leaders and experts.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management for the extraction organization.
  • Lead complex multi-site projects and ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across R&D, engineering, quality, and operations to integrate new processes and technologies.
  • Report progress, performance, and strategic opportunities to executive leadership with data-driven insights.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or engineering required; doctoral degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in operations, R&D, or engineering in cannabis.
  • Prior experience formulating consumer products.
  • Ability to plan, design experiments, and solve problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, fix, and service a wide range of equipment and software without assistance.
  • Knowledge of laboratory best practices and sanitary design.
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for hazardous chemicals.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, municipal codes, and SOPs.
  • Must pass required background checks.
  • Must remain compliant with legal and company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be approved by the state badging agency to work in the cannabis industry.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Remote position.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay range of $200,000 to $240,000 USD.
  • May be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program.
  • Remote work arrangement.
