Description

  • Build and evolve mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS (Swift/Obj‑C) and Android (Kotlin/Java), prioritizing performance, stability, and developer experience.
  • Design and ship SDK features including session tracking, crash reporting, sampling strategies, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integrations.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from design and MVP delivery through iteration based on feedback.
  • Break large, ambiguous problems into incremental, modular deliverables and iterate quickly.
  • Ensure quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering to deliver cohesive end-to-end observability workflows.
  • Engage with the open-source community by reviewing PRs, discussing design proposals, and guiding external contributors.
  • Mentor teammates, participate in technical design discussions, and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.

Requirements

  • Strong mobile engineering experience on one or both platforms: iOS (Swift/Objective‑C) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java).
  • Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or other developer‑facing platform code used by external developers.
  • Experience working with performance‑sensitive code (startup time, memory, network efficiency) and making pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry (instrumentation, SDKs, collectors) or experience contributing to/maintaining OTel SDKs or similar telemetry libraries.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, break down ambiguous scopes, and collaborate effectively in a distributed team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
  • Customer‑focused, coachable, and experienced contributing beyond code (writing docs, mentoring, shaping roadmaps).
  • Preferred: contributions to OpenTelemetry or observability open‑source projects, experience with cross‑platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter) or native bindings, mobile security/privacy/platform integration experience, or prior work on crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.

  • US compensation range: $174,986 - $209,983 USD (actual varies by level/location) plus Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) for all roles.
