Description

  • Design, implement, and deliver production-quality features and improvements across the k6 codebase from initial idea through release.
  • Maintain existing functionality and keep the system reliable, performant, and maintainable over time.
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers on design, implementation, and code reviews, and document technical decisions in pull requests and short design notes.
  • Work independently to understand ambiguous problems, evaluate trade-offs, propose pragmatic designs, and carry work through to completion.
  • Develop and maintain Go services that support k6 Cloud’s distributed test execution, with attention to performance, correctness, and failure modes.
  • Own product areas end-to-end, including architecture, releases, user-facing behavior, and the health of the open-source project.
  • Engage with and contribute to the k6 open-source community and ecosystem.
  • Employ AI-assisted development tools as desired to accelerate prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups while adhering to quality and review standards.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building production software in Go, or another language with good support for concurrency and parallelism.
  • Experience working on larger or long-lived codebases.
  • Proven ability to work independently on scoped problems and deliver them to completion.
  • Clear technical communication skills, especially in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Good understanding of internet protocols such as HTTP, gRPC, and WebSockets, with familiarity with lower-level networking concepts.
  • Experience with modern development practices including testing, code review, and iterative development.
  • This is a remote role and applicants from US timezones are preferred.
  • Nice-to-have: contributing to or maintaining open-source projects and prior experience using or contributing to k6.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with performance/reliability/network testing, distributed systems or cloud services, Docker, AWS, microservices, observability tools (Grafana/APM), and JavaScript/TypeScript.
