Description

  • Influence the Alerting roadmap and define your own career objectives within the team.
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Drive projects from initial ideation through implementation to production operations and customer delivery.
  • Build and scale distributed systems for alert ingestion, evaluation, and delivery that work for Grafana- and Prometheus-based alerts.
  • Deliver new features with the team, iterate based on results and customer feedback, and improve systems continuously.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run.
  • Contribute to Grafana’s open-source codebase and collaborate with other projects beyond your immediate team.
  • Mentor and support teammates, participate in design discussions, and collaborate cross-functionally with customers and Grafana Cloud teams.

Requirements

  • Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for a fully remote engineering organization.
  • Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go experience preferred (Python, Java, C++, Rust or similar translate well).
  • Some experience delivering projects end-to-end: gathering requirements, designing, shipping, and iterating based on feedback.
  • Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others.
  • Familiarity or experience with distributed systems and scaling alert evaluation/ingestion is preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and take operational responsibility for services.
  • Comfort working in an open-source culture and contributing publicly to repositories.
