Description

  • Design, build, and maintain user-facing tools for deploying, configuring, and operating Grafana Alloy, the OpenTelemetry Collector, and related components.
  • Own and evolve the Helm chart ecosystem used across large Kubernetes environments.
  • Build and maintain tooling that works across Kubernetes, Linux, Windows, and macOS.
  • Support infrastructure-as-code and GitOps integrations using ArgoCD, Terraform, Flux, and related utilities.
  • Collaborate with support, product, and field engineering to identify customer pain points and turn them into durable tool improvements.
  • Review peer code, communicate progress transparently, and help raise the technical bar for the team.
  • Contribute upstream to open source projects such as Grafana Alloy, OpenTelemetry, and Helm community charts.
  • Represent Grafana Labs at meetups, conferences, and on social media forums.

Requirements

  • 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience with at least one major programming language, with Go preferred; Python, Rust, and others also accepted.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including deploying, operating, and debugging production workloads.
  • Familiarity with Helm and the Kubernetes resource model.
  • Experience building or maintaining tooling for external users or customers, with attention to API/UX design, backward compatibility, and upgrade paths.
  • Comfort writing and maintaining automated tests at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote-first, async, and consensus-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills for code review, customer-facing issues, and cross-time-zone collaboration.
  • Preferred experience with Grafana Alloy or the OpenTelemetry Collector.
  • Preferred experience authoring or maintaining Helm charts, especially in community or production settings.
  • Preferred experience with GitOps tooling such as Terraform, ArgoCD, or Flux.
  • Preferred Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.
  • Preferred experience building developer-facing CLIs or configuration tooling.
  • Preferred familiarity with Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or Pyroscope.
  • Preferred history of open source contributions and community collaboration.
