Description

  • Influence the team roadmap and contribute to personal career objectives.
  • Work with the team to deliver new features that solve customer problems and improve large-scale operations.
  • Drive projects from initial idea through deployment and operational handoff.
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and own the services you run.
  • Write and review pull requests and design documents.
  • Support teammates through design discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope when appropriate.
  • Identify and implement performance and reliability improvements from production operations.

Requirements

  • Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, with Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar also relevant.
  • Some experience delivering projects from requirements gathering through brainstorming and shipping to customers.
  • Some experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
  • Some experience with on-call work and the DevOps model.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant software that is maintainable by others.
  • Familiarity with observability systems and knowing when to use metrics, logs, and traces to debug problems.
  • Pragmatic approach to breaking complex problems into modular solutions with short feedback loops.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working in a fully remote squad.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes (bonus).
  • Experience with queue systems such as the Kafka protocol (bonus).
  • Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles or in hobby/homelab projects (bonus).
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or a desire to learn (bonus).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (bonus).
  • Must be based in Spain, Germany, the UK, or Sweden for this remote opportunity.
