Description

  • Deliver new backend functionality and iterate based on results and feedback.
  • Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming features.
  • Own and operate services as part of the team’s on-call rotations.
  • Take responsibility for backend API and CLI components, along with the orchestration infrastructure supporting Grafana Cloud scale.
  • Mentor and support other team members through design discussions and collaboration.
  • Share ideas and knowledge across technical teams and work closely with other squads in the Grafana Division.
  • Participate in roadmap discussions and help influence team priorities.
  • Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope when appropriate.
  • Analyze problems and design modular solutions, then deliver MVPs and iterate with data and feedback.

Requirements

  • This role is available to candidates located in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and Sweden.
  • Solid backend development experience, ideally with Go.
  • Strong understanding of storage solutions, especially relational databases such as MySQL, SQLite, and Postgres.
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers in a self-driven way.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant software that is maintainable by others.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative, asynchronous environment.
  • Ability to work on complex technical solutions and break problems into modular, iterative steps.
  • Experience with open-source software or commercial open-source companies is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, or developer efficiency work streams is a plus.
  • Familiarity with on-call work and operations/SRE tasks is a plus.
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or a desire to learn, is a plus.

  • Base compensation in Spain of €82,000 - €103,000, with pay adjusted by location, level, experience, and skillset.
